Toyota Awarded Autoliv for Developing New Safety Technology

Autoliv Inc., the worldwide leader in the development and manufacturing of automotive safety systems was recognized by Toyota and gave the company the Toyota Technology Award for their development of the new Seat Cushion Airbag, one of the "world's first" features of the new Lexus LS460. This innovative Seat Cushion Airbag indeed features the world’s first frontal airbags developed for the rear seats.

The new airbag is located in the seat cushion and works along with the safety belt system to reduce the impact upon vehicle collisions thus protecting the passengers on the rear seat. Autoliv developed and designed the new Seat Cushion Airbag exclusively to work with the new reclining relaxation seat system developed by Toyota's Lexus luxury division.
